The Steung Meteuk Hydro Power Plant is built with the welfare of Koh Kong residents in mind, the state of the art power plant provides 150 megawatts of electricity with total investment of 440 million USD. The project is located on the border of the Koh Kong province and Pursat province providing potential for further expansion of the facility to accommodate energy requirements for the national grid as well as supplying directly to the substation in Koh Kong city and Pursat province.
